Sutter County supervisors will consider a budget action that would create a new Sheriff Homeless Liaison cost center and add a one-year limited-term deputy sheriff position, according to the Aug. 25 Board of Supervisors agenda.

The agenda item says the new cost center, CC2206, would be established within Public Safety Fund 0015. It also calls for a 1.0 full-time-equivalent limited-term deputy sheriff position to serve as a sheriff homeless liaison from Sept. 1, 2026, through Aug. 30, 2027.

The proposed budget adjustment would increase appropriations for the new sheriff cost center by $225,000, offset by a corresponding decrease in appropriations within Elections, which is listed as CC1502 on the agenda.

The agenda does not explain the liaison’s day-to-day duties beyond the title, and it is not clear from the summary whether the Board is scheduled to approve the item or only hear it at the meeting. The budget action would require a four-fifths vote, the agenda says.

The item appears on the consent calendar for the Board’s regular session at 3 p.m. Aug. 25 in Yuba City.
