The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet Aug. 13 in Eureka, with a closed session at 5 p.m. and regular session at 6 p.m. at the Woodley Island Marina Meeting Room; the meeting is also set to be available on Zoom.
Among the items on the agenda, commissioners are being asked to authorize Executive Director Chris Mikkelsen to negotiate and execute a $15,216,267 contract with Moffat & Nichol for continued and expanded planning, permitting and design services for the Humboldt Heavy Lift Marine Terminal, according to the Aug. 13 agenda packet. The agenda says the work would be funded through the California Energy Commission’s Waterfront Facility Improvement Program and is intended to advance the project toward 30% design.
The terminal project is also listed as an unfinished-business update on the board’s agenda. Under new business, the board is set to consider the district’s FY 2024-2025 audit report prepared by Harshwal & Company LLP.
The consent calendar includes minutes from the board’s July 9 and July 16 meetings, an employment agreement for the marina manager, May 2026 financial reports and a purchase order tied to a six-month contract extension with Express Employment Professionals for three harbor maintenance workers.
The agenda packet does not say whether commissioners approved, amended or delayed the Moffat & Nichol contract at the meeting.
