Humboldt County supervisors are set to consider a large package of health, child-care and infrastructure spending when they meet Aug. 18.
On the consent calendar, the board is slated to approve a $4.9 million intergovernmental transfer to the California Department of Health Care Services, according to the agenda packet. The same packet shows two American Rescue Plan Act child-care loans totaling at least $850,000: $350,000 for North Coast Children’s Services and no less than $500,000 for First 5 Humboldt, with North Edge Financing authorized to administer the loans.
Also on the agenda is a professional services agreement with Foothill Heights Care Center, LLC worth up to $2,254,000 for long-term residential skilled nursing and mental health treatment services from Jan. 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029.
Public Works items include a $1,168,584 award to Kernen Construction for the Measure O Bald Hills Road surfacing project, plus up to $70,900 in change orders tied to that work. Supervisors are also being asked to approve a $4 million appropriation transfer within the roads budget.
The agenda packet does not show final votes. It also does not explain the policy rationale for the health-care transfer beyond the item title and attachments.
