The Northern Humboldt Union High School District governing board voted 5-0 on Sept. 8 to approve a one-year amendment to Superintendent Roger Macdonald’s employment agreement, extending the contract through the 2027-28 school year, according to the district’s meeting minutes.
The action followed the board’s report that Macdonald had received a positive evaluation. The evaluation was listed for closed session under the state law allowing discussion of a public employee’s performance; the minutes say no action was taken in closed session before the board considered the contract amendment in open session.
Student board representatives recorded a 2-0-1 preferential vote on the amendment. The minutes do not detail the evaluation’s findings or disclose salary, benefits, severance or other terms of the amended agreement.
