Yuba County supervisors accepted Dr. Phuong Luu’s resignation as bi-county health officer during closed session on May 12, according to the board’s private minutes.
County Counsel Janet Bender reported the closed-session action after the board returned from recess, listing the matter as public employment and public employee appointment under Government Code §54957. The minutes say the board’s action was to accept Luu’s resignation.
The minutes do not explain why Luu resigned or say whether an interim replacement has been named. They also do not say how Yuba County and its public health partner will handle the shared post in the meantime.
The same meeting summary shows supervisors also approved a separate memorandum of understanding with Butte County for temporary health officer coverage, effective June 1 through Sept. 30 and capped at $3,326 a month.
