Yuba County’s two-day budget workshop brought a set of funding disclosures into focus as supervisors reviewed fiscal year 2026-27 department plans.
County Administrator Kevin Mallen opened the Aug. 5-6 workshop with a recap that included total revenues, general fund revenues, total expenditures, Measure K spending, reserves, department requests, contribution lists, year-end food purchases and possible impacts from H.R. 1, according to the board’s summary of proceedings.
Health and Human Services said it expects $5,600,880 in grants awarded or anticipated in FY 2026-27 and tied that money to priorities such as a Yuba County parks virtual map, additional phone or online services, workforce development and mental health awareness events.
The Sheriff/Coroner/Animal Control Services department reported a $550,000 California Office of Emergency Services grant and $8.37 million in pending grant awards. The workshop summary does not specify what programs those awards would fund or whether they are recurring.
Other departments also outlined budget-related work during the meeting, including the Assessor, Treasurer/Tax Collector, Auditor/Controller, Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, Human Resources/Risk Management, County Counsel, the Clerk of the Board, Agricultural Commissioner, First Five Yuba County, Child Support Services, Public Guardian, Sutter-Yuba Behavioral Health, Community Development and Services, Administrative Services/Information Technology/Buildings and Grounds, the County Administrator’s Office, Probation and the District Attorney.
At the end of the workshop, the board directed the county administrator on the contribution listing and district priority fund before adjourning Aug. 6.
