Big Lagoon school trustees decided at their June 9 meeting not to sign a proposed transportation agreement with Northern Humboldt Unified School District at this time, according to approved minutes from the Big Lagoon School District Board of Trustees.
Superintendent Cathie Shermer presented the agreement, which the minutes describe as covering transportation arrangements and housing for the district’s electric bus. The board discussed waiting to see whether the bus could be sold before moving ahead, and the minutes say the district will pursue the matter at a future meeting if necessary.
The same meeting included a public hearing on the district’s 2026-27 proposed budget. During that discussion, parent Evan Gibbs offered to help sell the electric bus and said he had contacts outside the area and even outside the state who might be able to buy it, according to the minutes.
