Humboldt County Zoning Administrator John H. Ford denied three commercial cannabis permit applications during the county’s Oct. 1 meeting, covering 36,920 square feet of existing cultivation in the Dinsmore, Ettersberg and Salmon Creek areas.
According to the Zoning Administrator’s action summary, Ford adopted Resolution 26-085 denying Humboldt’s Finest Agriculture LLC’s Conditional Use Permit and related Special Permit for 14,000 square feet of existing outdoor cultivation in the Dinsmore area. The special permit sought to reduce a setback from Six Rivers National Forest.
Resolution 26-086 denied Karolina Dragoytchev’s Conditional Use Permit, identified as PLN-11321-CUP, for 10,920 square feet of existing mixed-light cultivation and 2,000 square feet of outdoor cultivation in the Ettersberg area. Resolution 26-087 denied Will Randall’s Special Permit, PLN-13028-SP, for 10,000 square feet of existing outdoor cultivation in the Salmon Creek area.
The Oct. 1 agenda said the projects were recommended for denial because they were inconsistent with the Humboldt County Code. It also said the applicants had not provided sufficient evidence for the required approval findings. The county record does not specify in the agenda or action summary which code provisions or evidence gaps applied to each project.
The action summary lists the three projects as exempt from environmental review under State CEQA Guidelines Section 15270 because they were denied. The meeting record does not include vote tallies or statements from the applicants about the decisions.
